The Wilhelm von Humboldt Foundation is committed to making its internet offerings as user friendly as possible and strives to continually improve them. Analysing statistical data on the use of our web pages and recording various technical details concerning the browsers and computers visitors to our web pages use helps us to do this. For this reason, every time our website is used and every time a page is accessed, information is temporarily stored and processed in a log file.

Specifically, the following information is recorded for every access/retrieval:

  • abbreviated IP address,
  • date and time,
  • retrieved page/name of the retrieved file,
  • address of the previously visited website (referrer/search term),
  • name and version of your browser/operating system/screen resolution (if this information is available) of your device.

This data is analysed solely for statistical purposes and to improve the website. It is not used in any other way nor is it made available to third parties.

Please note however that when you use integrated external services - such as Google Maps for showing locations or for directions to a particular address, YouTube for videos, Twitter for thematic news feeds - your IP address and possibly other personal data are sent to the respective service provider (Google, etc.) where it may be stored and analysed. We do not assume responsibility for this.
